As a QA Specialist, I am responsible for ensuring safe and proper storage of biological material under a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) contract at ATCC. I also develop procedures, perform internal audits and provide customer service data to upper management. I serve in a leadership role and train others on QA procedures.

What do you like most about your job?

I have always thought of myself as a problem solver, and QA has given me countless opportunities to build a reputation as a person with solutions.

I work very closely with experienced industry professionals who treat me as an equal. My position is one of importance and I am making a valuable contribution to corporate goals.

What advice would you give to current students pursuing a career in Agriculture?

Absorb as much as you can every step of the way. You never know what information will be important to know for an interview or on a daily basis in your career. Ask questions, be outspoken and take chances. When the time comes for recognition, you want people to remember your name. Learn to stand out now and it will continue for years to come.
